Here is #TeamMCI for the 2019 Gixxer Cup!
Massive thanks to Suzuki NZ Gixxer Cup / Suzuki NZ for the 150cc motorcycles for these youngsters (+Dennis 😅) to race in the North Island in December this year. They will race the three rounds of Suzuki Series at Taupo, Manfeild and the infamous Cemetery Circuit. With so many talented youngsters in our Club, it was a real challenge to choose just three riders. In fact, we are working hard to prepare a fourth bike so the four of the following Juniors can compete:
Sam Guthrie, 13 years old. Sam has been training out at Ruapuna since he was 10! Last year he won the Southland Cup in the 150 Supersport class. Sam and his brother definitely keep Mum & Dad busy, as they also race Motocross on the weekends not spent at a road race circuit.
Madi Berry, 19 years of age. Madi is an apprentice mechanic at MS Ford in Nelson. She has been racing motocross since she was 12 years old and currently also races a YZ250F alongside her first few events in Road Racing.
Tyrone Kuipers, 19 years old. Another dirt bike convert, Tyrone has raced 5 MCI meetings so far and is loving road racing. After a couple of crashes at his first events, he has worked really hard to fix his bike and get back to the track to keep improving. Tyrone is also enjoying making friends in the sport!
Olivia Goddard, 17 years old. Olivia’s Dunedin based family have a rich history in road racing with both her Brother and Dad competing nationally. She is a multi-talented young lady with interests in gymnastics and crossfit helping her stay fit and is very ready to take her road racing to the next level.
+ Dennis Charlett – MCI Club President, NZ road racing legend and MCI Gixxer Cup Mentor. Dennis’ shop Mega Motorcycle Centre are kindly preparing the Gixxer’s for us which we really appreciate.
Thank You to everyone else who trialled for the limited places, we look forward to working with you at local race meetings.
Bring on the Racing!!!! #MCIforthewin
